Does anybody remember the “Wazzzup” commercials? You probably do. There was always that one guy at the office that thought saying “Wazzzup” was a great thing to do in real life. The Wazzup marketing campaign was incredibly annoying, but it worked. Budweiser did not change its product in any way or offer it for less money. All Budweiser did was hire a PR firm to develop a great marketing campaign and viola, record Budweiser Beer sales. I’m a little sad to say the treadmill world is not much different. Marketing sells. Marketing rather than quality product is the reason why Proform is one of the largest treadmill manufacturers in the world My Proform 755 Treadmill Review is an excellent case study in marketing vs. substance.
Let’s start off with some concrete details. The Proform 755 Treadmill comes with a 2.25 HP motor, 20” x 55” running area, 10% incline, and a top speed of 10 MPH. To the untrained eye, and judging by Proforms sales, there are quite a few untrained eyes out there, this treadmill might seem like a great deal. I can’t say that I’ve used the this treadmill and can provide a definitive answer to the question “how comfortable is this treadmill”, but Proform’s track record alone is enough to make me steer clear of the Proform 755 Treadmill.
The most telling thing about this treadmill is the warranty. You can learn a lot about a treadmill from the warranty alone. The Proform 755 Treadmill is backed by a 12 year motor warranty. Once again, to the laymen this may sound incredible. However, my experience in the fitness industry tells me Proform is relying on a cool looking website or feature gimmicks to move product. You see, the standard treadmill warranty is 1 year of parts AND labor. Labor is a huge chunk of the cost of a treadmill repair and often times the most expensive part. If the Proform 755 Treadmill fails in some way, you’re stuck with a repair bill.
I thought about leaving out my conclusion because my conclusion is very obvious. Don’t buy this treadmill. There are lots of other great options out there like the
