I said a while back that I was going to diversify the things I talk about to keep myself interested in this blog. For most of my history on the Internet I have been a blog reader and not a blogger. Now that things have changed and I have an outlet for my frustrations with fitness equipment and anything else that pops into my head, I want to give a shout out here and there to someone who really deserves it. The subject of my first Weight Loss Blog Blogger is Token Fat Girl.

According to her blogger archives she has been running Token Fat Girl for about a year now. Token Fat Girl kept me coming back for more with her bridal shower countdown. After reading a couple posts I had a vested emotional interest in seeing her feel like she did accomplish something by the time that her wedding came. I won’t reveal too much about what happens, mostly so you have to go there and read the post yourself; if you must know the ending now you can read it here.

Most weight-loss bloggers that hold my attention have great food recipes. She has a lot of really good low-calorie, easy to make recipes. I’ve actually been meaning to make one where she combines Gordon’s Frozen Shrimp and rice, perhaps we’ll do that this weekend. But, what holds my attention more than anything is her Local Thursday’s series of posts. Lately, Fat Token Girl has been making efforts to acquire food from locally grown sources. The most recent Local Thursday post talked about farm fresh bacon and dairy fresh cheese. These may be high caloric foods, but she goes on to make the point that eating a reasonable amount of calories per day is only half the battle. A healthy diet includes quality foods, such as the ones you can find at a local dairy or farm, or grow right in your own backyard.

I strongly encourage you to check out Token Fat Girl. Her site is a lot more than food and exercise logs. Show her some link love if you own a blog or website. If you know a great fitness blog tell me about it. I’m always happy to give credit where credit is due.

Sincerely,
John Bravo
