The ASR1000 sucks, go with anything else!
Hello Readers,
Elliptical Trainer Review: NordicTrack ASR 1000 Elliptical Trainer:
Elliptical Trainer Rating: 1/5 for shaking and a terrible feel
Price: $699
I just got back from a two hour trip to Sears to try out some of the Icon Fitness equipment that is being sold at Sears. I have tried lots of Icon Fitness equipment before and I am usually flabbergasted by the lack of quality their fitness equipment tends to have. After being in the fitness equipment industry for nearly a decade I am no longer startled when I try out an Icon Fitness product and it sucks anymore than I am surprised that the sun rose today. I have decided to review the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer today because the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer epitomizes the problems with many of Icon Fitness’s products.
My Personal Experience with the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer Elliptical Trainer
I have a little black book that I take with me when I’m about to try out some fitness equipment. I make lots of notes about most of the equipment I try out, but for the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer I just have three words written down in my notes, “shaky and terrible!” Yep, shaky and terrible are probably the two most accurate and descriptive words of the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer I can possibly think of. When I tried out the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer it was shaky and definitely distracted me from working out in peace or safety for that matter. Even if an elliptical trainer has a bad feel I usually have more notes than just a couple words, but my experience with the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer was so bad I remember everything I felt when I tried it out. I was uncomfortable, I felt cramped, and I wanted to get off the elliptical trainer. I stuck it out for about five minutes and decided I knew everything I need to know about the motion and feel of the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer.
My Analysis of the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer Elliptical Trainer
This is the interesting dichotomy of Icon Fitness products. The mechanics of their fitness equipment are generally some of the worst in the industry, but the features and specs are generally better than just about anything you’ll find from any other manufacturer. You get 20 workouts. 20 workouts are much more than anything you will ever find on any elliptical trainer that sells for less than $1000. If that isn’t enough the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer has a built-in card reader that allows you to buy memory card with very specialized workouts or simply add some variety to your cardiovascular routine.
The NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer also comes with a panel that has some built-in video games like Texas Hold‘em and Blackjack. I can’t think of too many other elliptical trainers out there that have such a vast array of programs and things to keep you occupied during a workout.
In addition to everything else you get an adjustable ramp that can simulate walking up hills. Once again, you probably will not find that feature on any other elliptical trainer in this price range.
Final Analysis
Despite the incredible paper specs of the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical I still have to give this elliptical trainer a terrible rating of one out of five. The mechanics of the NordicTrack ASR1000 Elliptical Trainer are simply horrid. I can’t imagine recommending this elliptical trainer to anyone except the owners of Bank of America who believe it is okay to charge me $35 when I’m overdrawn by about $.50. As always, the ultimate decision rests with you and I hope you can find something you feel comfortable exercising with that is within your budget.
