I don’t know anyone else who is willing to spend their entire summer vacation hunting down and trying out elliptical trainers. I suppose this is what makes me myself. Today I spent about three hours traveling to, trying out, and now writing about the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer. By the time I’m done I will have spent nearly 6 hours just to do the initial research for a handful of treadmills and elliptical trainers. I digress. You really want to know about the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer. Let’s get started.

Comfort
I normally don’t expect a lot from elliptical trainers that retail for less than $599. Most of the elliptical trainers in the low hundreds do not feel any better than that travesty the Tony Little Gazelle that retails for about $150 bucks. I would generally rather walk than buy one of the elliptical trainers that retail for just a couple hundred dollars. However, I will say that when I tried out the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer for myself that I actually kind of liked the feel of this elliptical trainer. Shocked and surprised are the two most accurate words I can use to describe my reaction to the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer. The flywheel which is largely responsible for how smooth the elliptical trainer performs is surprisingly large for the price range. I did not get the floor falling out from under me feeling that I do with other elliptical trainers that can retail for a couple hundred dollars more. Another thing I’m really impressed with is the 18 inch stride length. An 18 inch stride length is common to elliptical trainers that retail for about $600 or more, it is not common and elliptical trainers that sell for about 500 bucks.

Just one quick thing. Do not buy the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer and expect to get the same type of comfort and performance you can expect from the Sole E25 which is a much more expensive machine. I’m strictly speaking in terms of how comfortable the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer is compared to other elliptical trainers in a similar price range.

Features
The Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer does a pretty good job with fitness programs considering the price range. They’re much more in-depth than anything you’ll probably find on similarly priced elliptical trainers. In addition to some pretty standard time and calorie-based workouts there are terrain and hill programs. The best thing about the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer is that it has a full one-year parts and labor warranty. This is so important that I’m going to say it again and bold it. The Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer has a one-year parts and labor warranty! The warranty really makes the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer hard to beat for the price range.

Final Rating
If you plan on just using the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer for some casual cardiovascular exercise to supplement a normal routine, are a very light person to begin with, or are extremely budget conscious the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer just might be the elliptical trainer for you. I don’t recommend elliptical trainer in this price range for a majority of people because the majority of people require something a little more durable. However, if you are a penny pincher the Horizon EX57 Elliptical Trainer is a very strong buy.
