I’m trying to post something to this blog every day. It’s kind of hard, there’s work, school, and of course exercise…though the California fires are pretty much going to cut the exercise part out of my day. Anyway, today I’ve decided to do something a little different. I have a question from a reader named Kim from Des Moines, Iowa. She has been gracious enough to allow me to post her question to my treadmill review blog and I encourage everyone with a treadmill question to email me at treadmillmaster@gmail.com and I’ll try to answer your question as soon as possible.
“Dear Johnny,
I just happened to catch your treadmill review blog and read your Smooth Fitness 6.45 Treadmill Review. I went to the Smooth Fitness website to read more about the Smooth 6.45 Treadmill and noticed the Smooth 6.45M Treadmill. I compared the two for about 15 minutes trying to distinguish the difference between the Smooth 6.45 and the SMooth 6.45M. So far, the only thing I can come up with is a more expensive price tag. Could you help me figure out the difference between the two treadmills and if it’s worth paying an extra hundred bucks for the Smooth 6.45M Treadmill?
Thanks,
Kim”
Hello Kim from the fire scorched forests of Los Angeles!
There’s an excellent reason why it’s so hard to distinguish the difference between the Smooth 6.45M and the Smooth 6.45 Treadmill, they’re identical in all but one respect. The Smooth 6.45M Treadmill has a built in Ipod jack and speakers, the Smooth Fitness 6.45 does not. Each treadmill has the same motor, maximum speed limit, weight, and size. Both treadmills are great choices in terms of running area, maximum speed, comfort, and all the other factors I judge treadmills by. If you want a more in depth opinion on these two treadmills, check out my full Smooth Fitness 6.45 Treadmill review. I don’t feel the need to go in depth about the Smooth 6.45M Treadmill when the only difference is an Ipod jack.

Hello Readers, I just got done with a full day of classes. It’s so strange to go from teacher to student in under an hour. I suppose it’s time to switch back from student to teacher as I dispense my elliptical trainer knowledge in my Smooth Fitness CE 27 Elliptical Trainer Review.
The Smooth Fitness CE 2.7 Elliptical Trainer is one of the Top 2009 Elliptical Trainers in the thousand dollar price range. There are so many good reasons to own this elliptical trainer and I’ll cover them all in this elliptical trainer review. First off, this elliptical trainer has an adjustable stride. Back in the dark ages of elliptical trainers consumers had to choose an elliptical trainer with a set stride length. This obviously created problems for two people sharing an elliptical trainer, especially if they were different heights. An adjustable stride solves this problem because users can adjust their stride to suit their preferences.
Programs are another strong point. I can’t tell you how many times people bought an elliptical trainer from me, only to call me back asking for a book to help them put together a cardio routine. I often recommended they get something by Runner’s World. But I also remind them that their elliptical trainer has built in fitness programs and the Smooth CE 27 Elliptical Trainer has one of the better cardio routine sets to choose from. There are over 50 program profiles, one of the most I’ve seen in all my years of buying, selling, and fixing elliptical trainers. Another thing I really liked about the Smooth CE 27 Elliptical Trainer was the stride. Stride is the most important factor I consider when reviewing an elliptical trainer. If an elliptical trainer has a bumpy, bobby feel to it, I can’t recommend it. Fortunately for the people at Smooth Fitness, this elliptical trainer has excellent feel and does not suffer from some of the choppy robotic motion you can get with a lesser machine.
Overall, the Smooth Fitness CE 27 Elliptical Trainer is one of the top Elliptical Trainers of 2009. You get one of the best strides a $1000 can buy and everything is covered by an excellent warranty. I found working out with the Smooth Fitness CE 27 Elliptical to be an extremely pleasurable experience, and I’m certain you will too!

I’ve been hard at work this weekend repairing my computer. I tried to illegally download music I already own because I can’t find the CD for the music. Unfortunately, I got infected. Then it spread to two other computers on my network and now everything is a mess. I’m almost back to normal, well, at least normal enough to write another Smooth Fitness Treadmill Review. I’m trying to get through all the good stuff right now because the busy season is coming and I really want to help you find the better treadmills in the ocean of fitness equipment out there. So, without further delay, here is my Smooth Fitness 645 Treadmill Review.
Labor is more often than not the single largest expense for most businesses. If a business can cut labor, a business can grow profits. That’s why so many treadmill companies out there will offer staggering lifetime warranties on things like motor and frame but leave the labor warranty short, often times less than 3 months! A good treadmill offers a 1 year parts AND labor warranty. A great treadmill manufacturer like Smooth 645 Treadmill offers 2 year parts AND labor. That’s right, if anything breaks down on the Smooth Fitness 645 Treadmill Smooth Fitness will cover everything from the bearings and bushings to a certified treadmill repair person to come to your home and fix your treadmill. The two year warranty is perhaps the single most compelling reason to own a Smooth 645 Treadmill.
Let’s not forget about performance. Smooth Fitness on the whole is one of my favorite treadmill manufacturers. Smooth Fitness dominates the $999 – $1500 price range. (Sole Fitness does give Smooth Treadmills a run for their money. I’ll have more on that later.) The Smooth 645 Treadmill is equipped with a very powerful 3.0 continuous duty horsepower motor that can handle users up to 350 lbs. The running area is equally as impressive. This treadmill felt incredibly spacious when I ran on it. It’s no wonder either, the Smooth 645 Treadmill has a full sized 20″ x 60″ running area that isn’t cluttered up by unnecessary framing as many other treadmills are.
This treadmill does have somewhat of a weak point. The maximum speed is 11.2 MPH. I really would like to see a higher top speed. 12 MPH would satisfy me and be fast enough for just about everyone to train on. One other little thing, I have seen better consoles out there. I really do like dedicated program and speed level buttons. The Smooth Fitness 645 Treadmill lacks dedicated control buttons. It would be a nice upgrade when Smooth Fitness redesigns their models next year. Just a thought Smooth Fitness.
Overall, this treadmill just feels great to use and it’s backed by one of the better warranties you’ll find in the treadmill world. A good warranty tells me the manufacturer is confident in a treadmill and the Smooth 645 Treadmill certainly has a warranty to be proud of. It’s very roomy and spacious and should be able to accommodate just about everyone from tall lanky runners to people who have a few pounds to lose. My final rating is a 4 out of 5.

Hello Readers,
I’ve been telling myself for about a year now that I’m going to write a treadmill review blog. I have finally come to the point where the rubber meets the road. I’ve decided to start with the Smooth Fitness 545 Treadmill. There are two really good reasons to buy this treadmill now. First, it’s on sale. A little known fact to those outside of the fitness industry is that treadmill and elliptical sales fall to almost zero from late spring to summer because everyone does things outside like swim or hike. That makes right now an ideal time to get a good deal on a treadmill! Treadmill retailers are so desperate for sales right now they’re willing to offer price breaks you’ll never see during the winter just to close a deal. Right now Smooth Fitness is offering an extra $100 on the Smooth 545 Treadmill, an offer that isn’t likely to last so I strongly suggest you do the smart thing and at least check out it. I’ll even put a link for you right here so you don’t have to bother searching for it.
The second reason why you should buy this treadmill is because it’s the best treadmill you’re going to find in the $1000 price range. I’ve run on this treadmill before and it feels very spacious. The actual running area is 20″ x 55″ inches, which is pretty average for this price range, but it doesn’t have any extra moving parts you really don’t need like swinging arms or a console that juts out over the treadmill belt like some less well thought out treadmills do. The console is large. It kind of feels like you have your own starship and command center with all the buttons and displays. The console can be overwhelming at first due to it’s large size, but it starts to feel natural a few minutes in to your first routine.
I don’t really like talking about horsepower, but a well written Smooth 545 Treadmill Review would mention that this treadmill has a 2.5 HP motor. Judging a treadmill based on horsepower can be a trap sometimes. There are so many word games played with horsepower in the treadmill industry these days it is really hard for the layperson to sort it all out. I personally judge a treadmills motor by two things, my personal experience with a particular treadmill and a treadmill motor’s warranty. Smooth Fitness is one of the more reputable treadmill manufacturers out there, and Smooth’s products have stood the test of time for many years now, nor have I received any complaints about this treadmill from any of the customers I have met in the field. So, as far as I’m concerned, the motor itself is very reliable. As far as the warranty is concerned, the Smooth 545 Treadmill’s motor is covered for life. Yes, I said life. I can’t say that about too many other treadmills. That means Smooth Fitness is willing to back the longevity of the motor with their own pocketbook. If I bought this treadmill I would sleep a little bit easier knowing my $1000 treadmill was covered for life!
Here comes my final review. The place where I tell you what I think of this treadmill overall. Overall, this is an excellent machine. I ran on this treadmill a couple weeks ago, a friend of mine actually bought one. (Without consulting me first, fortunately he made a good decision.) It was very comfortable and felt extremely spacious. The normal retail price is about a $1000 but the summer months are tough for treadmill sales, so Smooth Fitness is giving you a hundred bucks off right now. This might not be the case in a couple weeks when business starts to seriously pick up. If you’re serious about buying a treadmill, I strongly advise you make a purchase now when you have a lot more bargaining power.
